A healthy diet is vital to living an active lifestyle, and it's simple to do. Remember the healthy food pyramid you learnt about in primary school? It wasn't just a colourful poster on the classroom wall. Try to increase your daily intake of fresh foods like vegetables, fruits, lean meats and cereals and avoid fatty foods and foods high in sugar.

A busy lifestyle can mean your diet gets neglected but a bit of planning is the key. Pack some delicious healthy snacks to help tackle those cravings while you're waiting for your next lecture. Take a water bottle with you to your lectures and tutorials, water keeps you refreshed and alert and it suppresses your appetite. Think about the week ahead before your go grocery shopping. Will you work late nights? Do you have evening study groups? Stock up on quick and healthy foods instead of getting drive-thru on the way home. Cook double batches of meals that can be frozen for the night when time or energy is limited.

You'll notice the benefits of an improved eating habits in all aspects of your life, it increases your energy levels, improves your body image and stimulates your mind.
